Alia Bhatt’s short film on women’s safety, Going Home, directed by Vikas Bahl, got a lot of attention online. It even went viral soon after, but what Alia is really overjoyed about is Hollywood actor Ashton Kutcher’s praise for the video. Alia expresses her excitement and calls herself a fan of the Hollywood actor.

What was your first reaction?
One of Vikas’ friends messaged him about it. But you don’t believe such things immediately. You always think that it might be a fake account. But later, I also found out that Ashton has a website where he shares all the interesting videos he comes across. The fact that he made the effort to put our short film on the portal made me happier. I am more excited that now, more number of people will watch it, thanks to his huge reach. Apart from that, I was like, ‘Oh my God’. My feelings were, ‘Ashton Kutcher saw my face. Now he knows how I look’.

You’ve gone from being a target to jokes to now earning praise for the video. Does that make you happy?
There’s nothing to complain about. As an actor, I want to bring a smile to people’s faces. I don’t want to be a reason for anyone’s sadness. And for that smile, I am ready to be a target of jokes for the rest of my life.

You have been linked to Sidharth Malhotra now…
Where has that come from? It’s so random that I don’t even want to comment on it.
