One Direction member Zayn Malik was left fuming and upset by drug abuse claims made on him live on US TV, it has been revealed.
The 21-year-old singer told The Sun that he was really angry and upset by what was said and he was really ill at the weekend, that's why he couldn't fly to America.
The Brit band, who recently appeared on Today Show excused Malik's absence, saying that it was due to illness.
However, Matt Lauer, the host of Today Show, said: "There’s obviously a lot of concern, a lot of fans have been tweeting overnight. Is it something more serious? There have been rumours of substance abuse. What’s going on?"
One Direction were together as a five-piece in London on Saturday to record the new Band Aid 30 single but just four of them made it to a promotional appearance for their new album Four in Orlando on Monday.
Zayn had to miss the flight with his band mates to America due to a 'tummy bug' but fans were left furious with Lauer's line of questioning.
