Talk show host Oprah Winfrey wanted to play Mrs. Miller in Doubt but director John Patrick Shanley turned her down and chose Viola Davis over her for the role.
Winfrey revealed it while chatting to the film's star Meryl Streep on her talk show on Tuesday. She said she asked to audition to play Mrs. Miller in the film because she felt a connection to the story and wanted to work with Streep, contactmusic.com reports.
She said: "Shanley turned me down and said no and gave me all the reasons why it would be no, and I think it was actually the best decision."
Davis was nominated for a best supporting actress Golden Globe for the role. She's also hotly tipped to land an Oscar nod.
