Screen veteran Sridevi also has an artist in her. But it’s been a while since she last took the brush in her hand. The actor, who made her Bollywood comeback with English Vinglish, says that she has been so busy lately, that she got no time to indulge in her passion. “I used to paint a lot as I enjoy it immensely, but, I haven’t painted for a long time, it’s almost been one year. When I do paint, it completely soothes my mind. I love to do all kind of art whether it is with water paints, acrylic…but I primarily like using oil paints,” says Sridevi, whose painting titled Thoughts, was put up on auction for charity, at Christie’s in 2010.

The actor adds: “All paintings that adorn my house have been done by me. I like to put on canvas people, their moods, expressions - it all depends on how I’m feeling at that point. My friends keep telling me to have an exhibition... I too want to hold one someday.”

The side we know
Sridevi started her on-screen journey in 1967, when she starred as a child artist in Tamil movie, Kandhan Karunai. She also worked in an array of films in Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam and Kannada. Her Bollywood debut was made in 1975, still as a child, in the film Julie. Some of her memorable Bollywood films include Sadma (1983), Mr India (1986), Chandni (1989) and Lamhe (1991). Sridevi also did a stint on television, when she starred in TV series Malini Iyer in 2004. In 1996, she married filmmaker Boney Kapoor and they are parents to daughters Jhanvi and Khushi.
