Actress Penelope Cruz, who recently earned the Oscar nomination in the Best Supporting Actress category, wants to win the prestigious award for her Spanish fans.
The actress insists that she wants to "bring it home" for the fans in her country. The Spanish star earned the nomination for her role in Woody Allen's "Vicky Cristina Barcelona".
Cruz has a tough competition ahead as she is pitted against "Doubt" stars Viola Davis and Amy Adams, Marisa Tomei for "The Wrestler" and "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" star Taraji P Henson, the Contactmusic reported.
The actress, who was previously nominated for "Volver" in 2006, hopes to walk away with the revered prize as a homage to her homeland.
"I am eternally indebted to the Academy (and) to Woody Allen who gave me this opportunity. I am very happy to see all the affection and congratulations I have received, especially those from Spain.
