His work
Singh, the artist

A Delhi College of Arts alumni, Singh is an artist, who celebrates dance beyond the notion of gender in his artworks. Presented by Navsar Art, his first solo show in the Capital exhibits 30 artworks from his kitty, which are mainly mix media on paper. “Most of my work is inspired from traditional Italian teachings, such as silver points, thick and fine translucent layers of oil and detailing,” says Singh. Another interesting section in Singh’s artwork is his personal journey as a Sikh. This is presented as Graeco Punjabi Jatts.

Singh, the dancer
Singh is a trained classical Odissi dancer. On the last day of his exhibition on March 13, he will be performing two Odissi dance pieces. He took his dance lessons from Madhavi Mudgal. On asked, whether Singh is a better artist or a dancer, he said, “I am a better painter and training to be a better dancer.” This young artist enjoys being the translator/negotiator between his classical dance form and contemporary art practice and tries to balance it.
