Authorities believe that Sage Stallone was not a drug addict but a dealer, because his weight did not indicate the symptoms.

Investigators found huge, empty bottles -- made for prescription pills -- in Sage’s home, triggering a probe into his potential drug dealing. Authorities hope to connect the bottles to doctors or pharmacies, in similar fashion to the probes of Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston’s deaths.

According to TMZ.com, detectives are looking at a “likely scenario” that the Hollywood superstar’s son was dealing Vicodin. Cops don’t believe the younger Stallone was taking the drugs himself, in part because he died at a “pudgy” 5-foot-7, 188 pounds -- in stark contrast to the typical, rail-thin body type of junkies, the New York Post reported.

He didn’t leave a suicide note and he doesn’t appear to be a victim of foul play, cops have said. Investigators are looking at accidental overdose as possible cause of death.

The family of the 36-year-old actor met with the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office Tuesday and expressed worry that Sage may have been overmedicated before his death. The meeting focused on the status of the investigation.

The Los Angeles Police Department’s robbery-homicide division had been brought into the investigation, but officials said it remained primarily a coroner’s investigation and that there were no signs of foul play, ABC News reported.

Sage’s mother had hinted at the pain her son was in the weeks before he died after undergoing extensive dental surgery.

Sasha Czack, the Rocky star’s first wife, told the New York Post that Sage had been on pain pills when he died after having had five teeth pulled. The extractions took place two weeks before he was found dead in his Los Angeles-area apartment Friday.

Czack said she advised him not to get the surgery, saying: “I’ve heard about people dying having multiple procedures done to your mouth. Do not have more than one tooth [pulled].” When asked whether he was taking painkillers afterward, she said, “Wouldn’t you be?”

It could take weeks to learn the official cause of death. A spokesman for the Los Angeles County Coroner said Sunday that the results of the toxicology tests would not be known for approximately six weeks. An autopsy was completed Sunday.
