Nepalese Prime Minister Prachanda's wife Sita Dahal today met her favourite Bollywood actress Shabana Azmi at her residence here.
During the brief meeting, Dahal told Azmi that during her three-year stay in Mumbai in late 90's she has watched a few movies of her.
The Dahal couple had spent three years in hiding in Mumbai in India during the decade long insurgency launched by CPN-Maoist.
"We stayed in Mumbai, the centre of Bollywood, for three years and during that time my wife had an opportunity to view your 2-3 films," Prachanda told Shabana recalling his past life.
"At that time she used to say that when we will form the government some day I would like to meet Shabana," the PM said introducing his wife to the actress, who is also a member of Rajya Sabha (upper house of Indian Parliament).
Praising Shabana's efforts as a social activists, Prachanda said, "Despite being an actress the commitment you have shown in social sector inspires us. When we were in Mumbai we had the opportunity to see your initiatives which felt very good."?
Meanwhile, Shabana, a goodwill ambassador of SAARC for HIV/AIDS who was in Nepal to participate in an Advocacy programme organised by the regional group, expressed ideological proximity to Prachanda.
The Bollywood actress told the Maoist leader that her father Kaifi Azmi was also a communist activist.
"I stayed in the commune with my father when I was nine years old," she said.
When Prachanda asked her that "Isn't your husband Javed Akhtar also a communist?", she said, yea, he is a progressive writer and his father was also a communist."
