When an anti-ageing cream costs Rs 61,786 for 50 ml, it makes splurging what you thought was a sizeable amount on your average cream, feel very meager, doesn’t it? But that’s the price you pay if you want to pat platinum extracts, black algae and the like on your skin. Also, cosmetic companies spend a fortune on researching what ingredients are best suited to different types of skin.
And if you’ve just convinced yourself that nobody’s going to loosen his or her wallet to take home such an expensive jar of cream, you couldn’t be more wrong. The spokesperson for La Prairie informs that the brand expects to sell about 15-25 pieces of the anti-ageing jar, every month, in Mumbai alone.
“The cream is newly launched in the country, and we want our clients to try a sample for at least two weeks before they buy the product,” says the representative adding that given that it is a very expensive cream, their typical customer is one who has been using the brand’s products for long.
