She is a self-confessed fan of Lady Gaga. And not surprisingly, Priyanka Chopra was on cloud nine when she met the pop sensation earlier this year in New York. But even as the Poker Face singer apparently readies to visit India in October, Priyanka won’t be able to meet her.
“Yes, we were planning to meet but unfortunately, I will be in Los Angeles working on my album and films during that time,” confirms Priyanka, who has been strengthening her voice and singing techniques for her maiden global album. In fact, she has been working with a voice coach for her vocal lessons in the US as well as in India.
For the uninitiated, Troy Carter, who also happens to be Lady Gaga’s manager, is managing Priyanka’s international foray. Although Priyanka is still working on the music, the album is expected to have a mix of dance tracks, R&B and a few ballads too. The Saat Khoon Maaf actor is writing the music herself.
Priyanka, who is also a trained western music singer, has signed a worldwide recording agreement with Universal Music to record and release her first international music album in 2012.
The buzz is that her friend, UK-based rapper Jay Sean, will also be working with her on the album. He is believed to have also written a few songs for her.
“Definitely, there is some involvement (from Jay) but it’s too early to comment on how much,” says Priyanka, who walked the ramp for fashion designer Neeta Lulla during the Blender’s Pride Fashion Tour.
