Singer-composer AR Rahman is all set to don a new hat — that of the iconic Michael Jackson. In his first ever 25-city World Tour that kickstarts on June 11, Rahman will don a look styled after the King of Pop.
Talking to HT City Rahman said, “We wanted a contemporary yet Indian feel, hence this look. I had great fun while doing this shoot for the tour.”
Rahman is also excited about working with LA-based director Amy Tinkham, who has worked with international artists such as Madonna, Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears and Paul McCartney, for the tour. “I am excited about this journey and hope my fans will love it,” says Rahman.
Titled Jai Ho — The Journey Home, the tour will be a mix of audio and visual effects. Tinkham, said it would be a “theatrical experience” — a fusion of acrobatics and extravagant dance moves.
The tour starts from Nassau Coliseum in New York and will also travel to Chicago, Washington DC, Detroit, Toronto, Los Angeles, Vancouver, London and Paris, among other places.
Rahman’s daughter in hospital
AR Rahman’s younger daughter Raheema was admitted to the ICU of a Mumbai hospital on Thursday. Though the composer didn’t reveal the nature of illness, he said, “For the past 3 nights, I’ve been playing a loving father to my daughter. No music at all. God’s been kind and Raheema is recovering fast.”
