Victory is not always sweet, is what television actor Amit Sarin discovered when he won the episode of the Shah Rukh Khan hosted show Zor Ka Jhatka, which airs tonight. And the reason for that is Raja Chaudhary, who couldn’t take defeat in the right spirit. It is learnt that he barged into the room where Sarin was hanging out with other participants and created a ruckus, used abusive language and made unsubstantial allegations against the winner.
According to an inside source, initially Chaudhary didn’t show any signs of being upset at losing to Sarin. “But later in the evening, when Amit was chilling with Akashdeep Sehgal, Bhaktiyar Irani, Karishma Tanna, Natasha Suri and Mink Singh, Raja barged in and threw a fit, mouthing expletives and accusing Amit of being manipulative and playing dirty with him,” recalls our source. “Amit preferred not to react because Raja is known to get drunk and fight at the slightest pretext. And after that, everyone chose to remain reserved as far as Raja was concerned.”
However, when contacted for his side of the story, Sarin said that he was taken aback by Chaudhary’s behaviour. “Till the time I won, Raja was friendly and appreciative. He’d cheer when we went about overcoming the hurdles to reach the end. In fact, he even suggested celebrating just after I won. So this was shocking to say the least,” he says.
Refuting the allegations of being favoured, the actor who played the gray character of Ashwin in Pavitra Rishta, explains there was no way any one could have manipulated the show’s format. “It’s not about how fit you are, but about taking the right step at the right place at the right time. Once you fall, you lose precious time. In the final act of the episode, Raja, Debina and I were competing for the prize money. I reached the finishing point in three minutes and two seconds, while Raja took a few seconds more,” explains Sarin.
However, the actor isn’t too bothered by whatever altercation that took place in Argentina during the show’s shoot. After that, Chaudhary met Sarin cordially at Kushal Punjabi’s restobar, Watering Hole, where all the celebrity participants caught the opening episode of Zor Ka Jhatka on Tuesday night. “Raja hugged and congratulated me again for winning that episode. So what can I say now?” he concludes.
Is Kushal the winner? Just three days after Zor Ka Jhatka flagged off on Imagine, rumour is that actor-model Kushal Punjabi is the final winner of the reality show. A source from the sets in Argentina reveals that Punjabi performed excellently in the several obstacle games. The source says, “The channel might not want to talk about the final winner because it’s too early and they still have to shoot the last three-four episodes with host Shah Rukh Khan.” Apparently, there was barely a difference of a few seconds between Punjabi and the first runner-up’s completion time in the final act.
