Deepika Padukone puts Vajir Singh to sleep
It’s been more than a year that you made your debut. So how’s it going?
I don’t think I could have asked for more. I have a line-up of good films coming up.
Where? You don’t have many projects in hand.
(Cutting in) Well, it was not a conscious decision but I will only do a particular film if I like the script. I don’t mind doing just one film a year but I should be happy doing it.
What about the three new sensations of this year — Anoushka Sharma, Asin and Genelia D’Souza? Aren’t they competition?
I regard that as healthy competition. The trick is to enjoy your work and everything else falls into place.
You have acknowledged that you can never say no to Shah Rukh Khan or Farah Khan. So how come you charged a fee to Shah Rukh for your special appearance in
That’s not true. You can check this out with his production company Red Chillies.
How’s the equation with Priyadarshan?
I think he’s a fantastic director.. but I hardly interacted with him.. because I’ve only done a song.
Has your equation with him improved? The buzz was that you opted for
Om Shanti Omover Priyadarshan’s
Piratefor your debut.
Listen, I was never offered that film. Maybe he was considering me for the female lead but we had never discussed any project.
Anything to say about
Chandni Chowk to Chinathat we haven’t heard already?
(Pause) I always wanted to do an action film and I got the opportunity to work with Nikhil (Advani) and Akshay Kumar.
Initially, only Akshay Kumar was all over the promos. Were you upset?
I never get into the publicity parade. Who or what the producers want to use in the publicity are their prerogative.
Recently you said that Ranbir Kapoor and you are serious about marriage. Isn’t it too early?
No, we’re not thinking of marriage at all.. both of us are focusing on our careers right now.
It seems you weren’t too happy about the budding friendship between Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif.
I won’t comment on that.
Is your sister Anisha Padukone keen on entering the glamour world?
She’s keen on professional golf actually.
Yawn okay, good nightzzzzz.
