Actor Ranbir Kapoor left the residents of west Delhi’s Subhash Nagar starstruck on Thursday. The 29-year-old, who was shooting for an ad film for a soft drink in Block No. 17 of the area, was mobbed by fans. For the shooting, a lane was blocked with a make-believe flea market and traffic jam since Wednesday.
The area was cordoned off by the police and the residents came out on their roofs and balconies chanting “Ranbir, Ranbir”. While the crew initially befooled fans with a dummy shoot with a look-alike of the actor, they got confused when Ranbir came out of his vanity van post noon. “Was he the real one?” Sonam Anand, a fan, asked us when the actor winked at her. Later, Ranbir was joined by cricketer Virat Kohli. The shoot is on till today, and cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni is expected to join.
The shoot also left many locals and shop owners rich. To create the mood of a local bazaar, fifty shops have been hired at Rs.1000 per day and autos for Rs.700. Those who agreed to park their car in the lane are getting Rs.3,000 per day, while locals who are part of the crowd are getting paid Rs.200.
