Here’s an Olympic sprinter with some serious moves. A video of 19-year-old Australian hurdler Michelle Jenneke’s sensuous warm up dance at the World Junior Championship last weekend in Barcelona has taken the Internet by storm.
The clip shows the athlete, who’s Australia’s big medal-hope, performing her unique pre-race dance ritual ahead of the 100-metre hurdle race. She flashes a cheeky smile and swings her pony tail and hips to complete the cheerleader-style jig that has viewers agog. The edited Youtube version of the video which has gone viral with over 14 million hits, has the track Boys (Summertime Love) by Sabrina in the background, adding to the fun. And, she wins the race.
Twitter too, has been abuzz with people talking about her good-luck dance, with others wondering if it’s a trick to distract competitors or simply to attract attention. “Michelle Jenneke should be our flag-bearer next week in London,” tweeted David Schwarz ?@TheOx05. “Mother of god, this Olympian woman is GORGEOUS, Michelle Jenneke makes me want to live in Australia,” wrote Gamer_Ely ?@Gamer_Ely.
Jenneke has reportedly also been asked to pose nude by website Sex.com, which is hoping to cash in on her newfound fame.
