Ready to bare but...
No stripping for success for Tejaswini. She tells us the reason.entertainment Updated: Jun 09, 2006 13:20 IST
Tejaswini, little sister of actress Padmini Kohlapure, is willing to bare it all. But, there is something that stops her from doing so. She tells us the reasons.
You wore a swimsuit in your debut film Anjaane. Do you believe in using your body as a stepping-stone to success?
I believe in showing off good body. I have it and I don't have any grudge in exposing on-screen. There is no desperation and hurry because of which I accepted the role. If I am doing some shot in the pool, there is nothing else I can wear other than a swimsuit.
Do you mean to say you are comfortable with skin-show?
From modelling I have graduated into films. As a model, I got into the habit of wearing small and skimpy clothes. I believe models are bolder than actresses. I am only against exposure that is beyond the limit of decency. If someone is forced to wear a bikini, I am against it.
So, are you game for a sex flick?
No way. I want to wear clothes according to the character I portray. I don't want to do films in which clothes are decided first and the storyline later. Sometime back we had a plethora of sex films and I got so many offers but I refused.
Do you bother about your image in public?
Very much and that's the reason I refused being part of raunchy films. Once you get into the bracket of flesh baring women, it becomes difficult to break that image. First film leaves a lasting impression. Actresses can have directors standing behind them with offers for sex films. But, it's better to be patient and wait for the right film.
Did you get any assistance from your sister Padmini Kolhapuri, who is very senior to you in the profession?
It's my sister who insisted me to come in the glamour world. She and her husband helped me too. In fact, my brother-in-law roped me for his first film but unfortunately the film got shelved.
