Handcuffs, pole dancing and a pillow fight on stage — Rihanna and Britney Spears’ surprise act made the 2011 Billboard Music Awards as hot as it could get. Clad in bondage outfits, the singers’ collaboration was rumoured all week, but kept well under wraps. Eminem and Justin Beiber dominated the awards and took home six each at the star-studded event, held in Los Angeles on Sunday evening.
Taylor Swift, Rihanna and Lady Gaga took home three awards each, while Katy Perry and Shakira won two. Clad in a golden tuxedo, 17-year-old Beiber said, “I thank everyone who helped me get out of my hometown and live my dream.” Beyonce, who got the ‘Millennium Award’, gave the show-stopper performance of her new single, Run the World (Girls).
Other performers included singer Nicki Minaj, who performed her hit Super Bass, but was noticed more for her pink hair and skin-hugging body suit.
