Bollywood actor Shakti Kapoor has reasons to be unhappy. A near- naked picture of the actor, has been used by an upcoming award function — the Ghanta Awards — on their website, without his knowledge. Making matters worse, the awards, like Hollywood’s Razzies, claim to ’honour the worst in Bollywood’.
In the picture, Kapoor is seen lying on a couch, with only a thin blue cloth tied around his waist. A bell has been strategically placed on the photo with a logo of the awards on it. In response, a shocked Kapoor says, “This is very stupid. I have never heard about these awards or even this website.”
Even then, the actor says he will not take legal action. “I have so many other issues to handle. They can scan my face and put somebody’s body ... What can I do? It’s just silly and stupid of them,” he says.
Ghanta organisers say that they don’t mean offence. “We saw the picture on Facebook. It is not copyrighted. We have not stolen it. We thought it would be a funny idea. It was meant to be a joke. We never thought it would be a problem,” says their spokesperson. Thanks to the photo, the website is already a hit with surfers.
