In 2011, Salman Khan underwent a surgery in the US to treat trigeminal neuralgia (a nerve disorder that affects parts of the face). He no longer suffers from the extremely painful condition, but was scheduled to undertake another trip by January-end for a medical check-up. However, the visit has now been postponed because he is expected to appear in court in Jodhpur around the same time.
"Salman was keen to get his medical check-up out of the way at the earliest. But now, a court hearing date has come up. So he has decided to postpone the visit for some time. His pain has subsided almost completely, but his family still wants him to go for the check-up," says a friend close to Salman.
When we contacted the actor, he confirmed the news, saying, "Yes, the trip has been postponed for now. I have got my court hearings coming up, so I have to go to Jodhpur. It (the US trip) would be hurried. That’s why I had to push it back till after the court cases."
According to recent reports, Salman will be appearing in a local court in Jodhpur on February 4 for the black buck poaching case (that happened in October 1998 during the shooting of Hum Saath Saath Hain; 1999).
On the health front, however, Salman says he will undertake the US trip soon. "I will make the trip before Sohail’s (younger brother Sohail Khan) film starts around February," he says.
Tentatively titled Mental, Sohail’s next is a remake of the 2006 Chiranjeevi-starrer Telugu blockbuster, Stalin.
This year, Salman will also work on Sajid Nadiadwala’s Kick and Anees Bazmee’s No Entry Mein Entry.
At the moment, though, what Salman is most excited about is the flagship store of his charitable organisation, Being Human. "There’s a good vibe to it (the endeavour). We are already in the international market; it has got a lot of appreciation. In Dubai, we’ve sold out several times. The same goes for Milan, Spain and France," he says.
About his philosophy behind the charity, he adds, "We aim to run a self-sustained charitable trust. I wish every charitable organisation had a celebrity to endorse them. They wouldn’t have to struggle to raise funds even if the celebrity dedicated five days in a year to them."
Tabu back with Salman
A few days ago, reports claimed that Naseeruddin Shah and Tabu would be acting with Salman in the Sohail Khan film, Mental. It was also suggested that Tabu will play Salman’s sister in the action-drama. While the actress stands confirmed for the venture, Naseer isn’t on board yet. If he agrees, it will be his first film with Salman. As for Tabu, this will be Salman’s fourth film with her after Hum Saath Saath Hain, Biwi No. 1 (1999) and Jeet (1996). Interestingly, till date, she has never been paired romantically with him. "Both Salman and Sohail feel that Tabu fits the film. But it’s not yet clear what role she will play," says a source close to Sohail.
