Hollywood star Susan Sarandon says she should be blamed for inventing the term 'cougar' because she referred herself as a prowling big cat when she was in her 30s.

The 63-year-old, who separated from long-time partner Tim Robbins, says she used to poke fun at herself for snaring the actor, who is 12 years her junior.

"I invented the word cougar. I started that about 30 years ago!," Sarandon told

Life & Style

magazine.
