Singer Kailash Kher says he is ready to give acting a chance. “Singing is my passion and I am thankful to God for giving me the opportunity to show my talent. As for acting, I have no such plans yet. I got several acting offers and even went through some scripts. But nothing exciting has come my way till now. If a right script comes along, then may be.” The 37-year-old singer says, “I like to do quality work and cannot do any role simply for the sake of coming in a film or TV.”

Commenting on the current trend of reality shows, Kher says, “The reality shows provide a very good platform for unknown talents. Ever since such shows became popular, the number of people who have been recognised for their talent from small towns and cities has increased.”

Does he think too much commercialism is ‘killing’ the folk culture? “Folk culture is very much alive. In so many reality shows, people from all over the country showcase their cultural tradition. However, I feel that awareness regarding promotion of folk culture should be taken up at a larger level and comprehensive policy devised for the same.”

Kher struggled to get a foothold in Bollywood. He says, “I left my house at the age of 13 to pursue a singing career. Struggles make people strong.”
