Shah Rukh seemed irked on being asked to display his finger and he vent himself on twitter: "Cast my vote... it's amusing how ppl are obsessed that the voter should show his/her finger, Can I just stick my tongue out instead , rude enuff?(sic)"

Significant among absentees were actors Aamir Khan, Salman Khan and Priyanka Chopra since they are not in city.

"Wish I was in Mumbai today to vote, every year I do, I implore all of you to, we are the future and make this country what it will be for our kids," Priyanka wrote on twitter.

Lyricist Gulzar became the victim of a goof up in the electoral rolls as his name did not figure in the list.

Producer Shrishti Arya, sister of filmmaker Goldie Behl said, "Okay then! Once again I do not exist as per the voters list! If you exist please vote! Make the difference (sic)".

Besides Mumbai, elections were held in Thane, Ulhasnagar, Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad, Solapur, Nashik, Akola, Amravati, Nagpur and Mumbai municipal corporations.
