Trust King Khan to leave everyone in splits with his characteristic humour. In the Capital to attend a quiz show at the Indian Institute of Planning and Management, SRK squashed reports of him buying a six-room apartment — reported to be worth 20 million pounds — in Hyde Park, London. "It’s just that main shakal se raees dikhta hoon. Meri maa mujhse kehti hai, beta tumhare chehre se raesee tapakti hai. In reality, I am just someone who works to run my house." However, the actor maintained that due to constant travelling and outdoor shoots, he does take apartments on rent. SRK

“I take apartments on rent because my work keeps me away from home for days and months together. And with family and kids, it becomes difficult to stay in a hotel.”

Shah Rukh Khan is a worried man these days. Specially with the undue attention he is getting all the time. Says SRK, “I would love to be remembered for the films I do. I should be associated with Devdas, or a Chak De…India, not with Mannat all the time.

“The day is not far when I would be made to own a house on the moon. There will be pictures and all the channels would flash my face saying, ‘Yeh Shah Rukh ka naya ghar aur who bhi chaand par’.”

While Shah Rukh was away in San Fransico for the shooting of My Name is Khan followed by a family vacation in London, back in India, rumour mill has been working overtime. Apart from the London home, reports of him reinstating Sourav Ganguly as the captain of Kolkata Knight Riders and My Name… being sold to Twentieth Century Fox for sum of Rs 100 crore have been hogging headlines.

Mention KKR, and he says, “After the last season, we are now going to meet for the first time on August 4. Beyond that, nothing has been decided.”

He also justifies the renting of an apartment in London. “Despite all the security and management, there are people in the lobby or around the hotel, which makes our movement very difficult. Also, I’m a very unsocial person and like to be confined to my space and my people. So a apartments suit me better,” says SRK.

And about the Rs 100-crore deal, he says, “It feels great to say that Fox has expressed interest and have come forward for an association with us. But the Rs 100 crore sum is an exaggeration. The day I will manage to churn that kind of money without even releasing the film, I will retire and rest.”

Besides My Name… Shah Rukh is excited about which had to be delayed because of his shoulder injury. “I am waiting to get into my superhero gear. But my shoulder still needs rest. I still feel pain while sleeping,” he says.
