The Mumbai police, on Wednesday, arrested the driver of actor Shah Rukh Khan for allegedly raping a minor, who worked as house help for actor Sangeeta Bijlani.
He has been remanded to police custody till July 1.
S Pasalwar, inspector, Bandra police station, said accused Pintu Mishra, 34, has been working with Khan for the past seven years.
The 17-year-old survivor from Latur started working at the socialite’s house in Bandra in November.
The police said the survivor had allegedly asked the watchman of her building to find another job for her. The watchman told her that he knew Khan’s driver, who could help her. He then gave the survivor’s phone number to Mishra.
On June 20, Mishra allegedly called up the survivor and drove her around in the western suburbs on his bike on the pretext of introducing her to people.
He then allegedly took her to Nalasopara, claiming his family lived there. When they reached the spot, he asked the girl to wait outside, claiming that he had to check whether his wife would let her in. He returned 30 minutes later and allegedly told her that she had refused to allow her in.
“Mishra then took her to a hotel in Nalasopara and raped her. The next morning, he threatened to harm her family if she told anyone about the assault. He abandoned the girl, who then went to her friend’s house in Kurla,” said an official from the Bandra police.
The police said the survivor approached the police on Wednesday after which her statement was recorded and a case was registered.
“Mishra was arrested under IPC sections for rape and criminal intimidation, apart from the sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act,” said R Dhavle, senior inspector, Bandra police station.
