Veteran actors Shashi Kapoor, Hema Malini and Sulochana will be honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Awards during the inauguration of the 7th Pune International Film Festival (PIFF) beginning January 8.
Information & Broadcasting Minister Anand Sharma will inaugurate the eight-day festival during which 150 films from 42 countries will be screened.
The competition section of the fest includes world cinema, Marathi cinema and student films. Other sections include world showcase, country focus, retrospective, tribute, Indian showcase, focus on director, gems from NFAI (National Film Archive of India) and Marathi cinema today.
Government of Maharashtra Prabhat Awards for best international film and best international director carry cash prize of Rs 10 lakh and Rs 5 lakh respectively. Government of Maharashtra Sant Tukaram best International Marathi film award carries a cash prize of Rs 5 lakh.
Also, PIFF best international actors (male & female) will be given Rs 5 lakh each.
Filmmaker Subhash Ghai, on behalf of his Whistling Woods International, has instituted fellowship prizes in the students film competition section.
Best film will get USD 2,000, divided equally between the director and the producer, while best director will get USD 1,000. Best screenplay and best animation film will fetch USD 1,000 each.
