"I communicate with animals" said Maria Whitworth on her visit to the city. US-based Whitworth, who claims to be a psychic medium and animal communicator, has been invited by the All Kerala Elephants Owners Association to improve the condition of captive elephants in Kerala.
"Through my special abilities, I will communicate with these elephants and learn about the issues that they are facing. I am also here to introduce non-violent methods of handling animals," she said. "I’m also in the process of developing new equipment — elephant rings — with interior designer MD Asim. This ring will lessen the discomfort of elephants."
Whitworth has aided Scotland Yard in solving crimes due to her ability to communicate with spirits. So what language does she use when she talks to animals? "I do telepathy. From my voice, they understand my feelings and intentions. It is a multi-dimensional conversation between me and animals," said the psychic.
Whitworth grew up in England and it was in her childhood that she realised her extraordinary capability.
"At seven, I was abandoned by my family and since then, I came to depend on my intuition. In 1995, I was diagnosed with terminal liver cancer and I was given three months to live. Around this time, elephants came to me and showed me this path of nature. I survived my cancer and since then, my bond with animals became stronger."
When asked if she has ever been wrong in her communication with animals, Whitworth said, "Never."
