She is proving to be a keen entrepreneur, but Shilpa Shetty is still girlie enough to want some proper pampering on Valentine’s Day from businessman beau Raj Kundra. They both invested in the IPL team, “so it’s like we gifted each other,” the actress says with a laugh. “Of course, I’m expecting another gift. I’ve been working non-stop for too long. I would enjoy a holiday.” There Raj, you got the hint.
He gets it alright. “My girlfriend is my biggest expense, my biggest outflow of income, so I need to invest in the right places,” Kundra quips. Making her his business partner works for him, as “we will get more time to spend with each other”.
His admiration for the statuesque Shilpa is relatively recent. Her best movie till date is Life in a Metro, he thinks. “Before that, I thought of her as a glamorous supersexy model. Now, I think of her as an actress. I also loved her action sequences in Dus, especially her kick... I tell her, ‘Don’t use that kick on me ever.’”
Kundra advised Shilpa to invest in IPL because “if she became only the brand ambassador of the team, her heart would not be in it”. Shilpa knows what she needs to focus on. She says of the players, “The best way to motivate them is to stay out of their hair. I’ll be there for every match, but I don’t need to run out on the field or visit the locker room. That I’ll leave to the team manager.”
Beyond IPL, the two collaborate in one field — yoga. “Whenever I have a pain in my back or in the neck, she suggests an asana and I’m cured in a day. Her talent is a Godsend.” That’s Shilpa’s gift to him then.
