It was a bizarre reunion between Shilpa Shetty, 31 and her Celebrity Big Brother housemate Danielle Llyod, 23, on the red carpet for the premiere of Shilpa’s film Life in a Metro at Leicester Square.
Shilpa seemed to be enjoying the attention and let her former housemate tormentor embrace her, albeit with a reluctant, forced smile.
The two beauties met for the first time since the reality show ended in January. Both Jade Goody and Danielle were accused of subjecting Shilpa to racial taunts.
Whatever might have gone through her mind while welcoming Danielle, Shilpa looked elegant in a jewel-encrusted peach lehenga flowing to her feet for the world premiere of her film.
Stunning Danielle in a slit black gown and lace top, looked seemingly thrilled to see her old friend again. Admittedly both are actresses and gave an unbelievable display of affection. Danielle said she was invited and was really excited to be at the premiere.
Jade Goody, it seems, is still not back in Shilpa’s good books. Shilpa maintains that she does not wish to trigger another round of speculations by inviting her and detracting focus from her main events.
It was claimed that the world premiere " sees Shilpa Shetty in her first film since making a global impact as the winner of Celebrity Big Brother, but also marks the first official world premiere of an Indian film outside Mumbai."
The after-show party was hosted by Indian food group Tiffinbites at the new flagship restaurant in St Pauls. Details were unavailable. Even the list of invitees was not released.
It seems Shilpa may soon be a more regular feature in London after reports that she plans to open an authentic Indian eaterie, Shilpa Shetty Diner here.
She has also hinted that she would be buying an apartment in London, as she would be coming often to meet her various commitments.
