Shilpa Shetty’s IPL team, Rajasthan Royals, will be without their mentor-captain Shane Warne next season, but the actor insists that their ‘fighting spirit’ will not be dented. “We’d love to have Shane on board in whatever capacity. He’s become synonymous with the Rajasthan Royals and I know that he loves us,” she points out, adding that the team management will definitely talk with him on this but as of now there’s no commitment. “He’s a busy man, a professional poker player, and I’m not sure how things will work out.”
Point out to her that the Aussie had been embroiled in many controversies and even his ‘farewell’ appearance was marred following a headline-grabbing spat with Rajasthan Cricket Association over a pitch issue, and Shilpa chooses to be politically correct. “Criticism is never about one person.”Shilpa, who earlier was a regular in the stands, was missing for a large part of Season 4. "Yeah, I was laid low with a bad neck," she says, shrugging off rumours that she’s pregnant and was upset at being upstaged by Shane’s glamourous actor-partner, Elizabeth Hurley. "Nonsense! There’s no baby on the way, and Liz is a really good friend. Next season, I will make my presence felt, as and when I can.
I’ve come to really enjoy the game.” She also says that her beleaguered team has a Plan B in place. “We have a few aces up our sleeve. One thing in our favour is the youthful spirit and that will continue!”
