We get some fun-loving people in the city to share their most memorable April Fools’ Day prank ever. Pick up a cue to trick or save yourself from being fooled From sinister to innocent, all of us have been victims of April Fools’ Day pranks, or have tricked an unsuspecting soul.

Whether you are geared up to play a practical joke on someone, or want to be on a Fools’ Day alert, here are some tricks to help you today. Happy fooling around!

Anuja Chauhan, author
I was eight when my mom played this prank on me and my sister. She woke us up around 5 am in the morning and told us we’ve missed the school bus. We hurriedly got ready and left for the stand to catch the next bus. After waiting for a long time, we realised we had been fooled, as we saw other kids who usually come very late reach the stand. We were easily tricked, as my mom is a no-nonsense person.

Pulkit Sharma, psychologist
A patient of mine had his lawyer call me up early, saying he is going to sue me as my treatment had worsened his problems rather than helping him. I was totally taken aback, as this guy was quite sensible, and was responding quite well to the sessions. He did not even turn up for the session that day and kept disconnecting my call, and I was quite sure that he will drag me to the court. He turned up with a big cake in the evening.

Tarun Kapoor, chef
I called all my staff for an urgent meeting and told them that the hotel is going to be under renovation and we can’t afford them anymore. They were numbed. I asked these guys to put in their papers. Later, I tore off the papers, and wished them April Fools’ Day and asked them to cut a dummy cake (made from a tin dish turned upside-down, covered with cream).

Nida Mahmood, designer
I couldn’t stand a guy in the class. Along with my friends, I told him that we are planning a surprise party for a friend, and since we couldn’t find a place, we would have the party at his pad. He toiled for weeks, working out the menu, and decorating his place. On the day the party was planned (April 1), no one turned up. It was mean, but what’s life without some spice.

Rina Dhaka, designer
Along with a few other models, I tricked a male model, who’s quite masculine, into wearing a pink, girly dress. We told him unisex outfits are quite in, that’s why we have thought of including this design into our collection at the last hour. He could not believe that we had chosen him to wear such a bizarre outfit. He kept staring at the outfit for a long time, and then agreed to change into it, as he is quite a professional. After we had done his makeup and hair, and he was almost ready for the ramp (he looked dead all this while), we told him that it was just a prank.

Anand Bhushan, designer
In college, a friend was smitten by a girl. I offered to speak with the girl on his behalf. I pretended to go up to the girl and came back and told my friend that she is interested in him. However, she thinks he’s too hairy. I told my friend he should get waxed to win over the girl of his dreams. The poor chap got his whole body waxed and we couldn’t believe it! That’s one April Fools’ Day prank I will never forget.
