Something about Sundays

It's a beautiful Sunday today... One of those days when it’s pouring outside, I’m under the comforters and I know I can stay here till I am beckoned by the smell of the brewing coffee.

It's a beautiful Sunday today... One of those days when it’s pouring outside, I’m under the comforters and I know I can stay here till I am beckoned by the smell of the brewing coffee. Ever since I was a kid there has been something magical about Sundays. It’s a day that has a unique aura and vibe of its own. Sometimes when I’m shooting I lose track of the days of the week and go by dates instead. Even then when a Sunday sneaks up on you, you just know the feeling. I work on a lot of Sundays but the ones when I’m not working, I laze like there’s no tomorrow. I let the day take over and the destiny of Sunday run its own course. As a kid I remember waking up to watch cartoons on a Sunday and then spending the whole day reveling in the feeling of a holiday (Of course I’d start getting Monday Blues around Sunday evening!!)

Sundays are filled with possibilities - my favourite being Sunday brunch with friends. Nothing feels better than wearing a pair of your favourite shorts and throwing on oversized sunglasses and heading for some quality time over a good meal with your near and dear ones. Following that, my favourite activity on Sunday is never leaving the house and vegging out all day with interspersing of meals here and there, sprawled out in front of the tv, or zoning out playing video games and my all time favourite curling up with a book while I deeply contemplate if I should nap or not. The Sunday nap becomes an integral part of your day’s decisions. If Sunday were a movie then Bob Marley and jazz would be its background score. The lilting mellow chords in jazz or the laidback rhythm and voice of Bob Marley both compliment the feeling of a Sunday like no other.

Cooking on a sunday has a charm of its own. Waking up, heading to the market, lurking around the fresh vegetables and making up recipes as you go along....Then heading home, turning up the jazz to full volume and cooking for friends and loved ones. The best part is getting someone else to clean up when you catch up on some much needed Sunday snooze time. Sunday also has this sense of rejuvenation - a way to recharge before facing the week which I love! There are so many things to love about this day so now I’m off to enjoy mine!! Toodles!
