SRK wanted at Wankhede stadium

entertainment Updated: Apr 02, 2013 01:12 IST

Shah Rukh Khan’s fans and friends want the five-year ban on the actor from entering Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium, to be lifted. The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) had imposed the ban on the Kolkata Knight Riders’ owner last year, post his brawl with a security guard where he allegedly pushed and abused the guard. IPL chairman Rajiv Shukla, who is trying to play the peacemaker, recently said, "We’ll try to resolve the issue before the next Mumbai vs KKR match in Wankhede (May 7). SRK has said sorry for what had happened."

SRKEx-cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu believes that Wankhede stadium would look better with SRK cheering from the balcony. "This issue is blown out of proportion. SRK is an icon," he says. Raj Kundra, co-owner of IPL team Rajasthan Royals, too rallies for SRK, "The ban should be lifted," he says.

MCA, however, is not looking at reconsidering the ban. "The managing committee had imposed the ban last year, and it will continue this season too," MCA president Ravi Savant was reported as saying.

Meanwhile, in an online petition of sorts, the actor’s fans made SRK trend for two consecutive days on Twitter. “SRK... should be the loudest roar in Wankhede when #KKR plays MI...request to all SRKians in Mumbai,” posted rahulalbussrk.
