There are a number of days marking some special occasions in February, leading to the Valentines Day. Today is Slap Day, tomorrow is Chocolate Day, Friendship day is on February 11, Rose Day on the 12th, Kiss Day on the 13th, and then on 14th is Valentine’s Day. Are the youngsters looking forward to celebrate these days by bringing chocolates or roses or do these days mean nothing to them?

“I really don’t pay much attention to these days, but obviously Valnetine’s Day has so much hype around it that you cannot miss it. I would not even be caught dead celebrating something like a kiss day,” says Misha Saxena a students of Polytechnic.

For some, these days mean celebrations and enjoying themselves. “I celebrate all the days except SLAP Day! I get chocolates for my girlfriend on Chocolate Day, rose on Rose Day,” says Gagandeep, a student of IGNOU

“Giving roses and chocolates to my girlfriend on Valentine’s Day makes up for all the days. Only those trying to be cool celebrate every occasion,” says Harsh Kumar of Hindustan Business School.

Simran Narang of Delhi university says, “Valentine’s Day is the perfect occasion for couples to declare their love. It is a wow day, which is just about love.”

Veni Raina of Kamla Nehru College says, Earlier, it was simply Valentine’s day but to sell their stuff they have created all these days. You don’t need a particular day to express your emotions,” she says.

However, some students take these days seriously. Says Vidhi Aggarwal, a DU student, “Propose Day is a good opportunity to express your feelings. I am glad such a day exists.”
