Sting and John Legend are set to headline an Earth Day rally in Washington, along with Avatar director James Cameron and the Rev Jesse Jackson.
Organizers are announcing the initial lineup for the April 25 climate rally on Monday. Olympic gold medalist skier Billy Demong is scheduled to appear, along with musicians and elected leaders.
The group Earth Day Network is planning a week of events April 17 to April 25 to press for climate change legislation. Singer Melissa Etheridge will headline an event April 21.
Another gathering will mark the 40th anniversary of Earth Day on April 22.
