Ever since social networking sites gained popularity, they’ve gradually become tools for filmmakers to seek advice from the audience. A couple of months ago, Anupam Kher asked his followers on Twitter to suggest a title for his next film, which is being produced by Parvin Dabas.
The latest in that league is Sudhir Mishra, who has posted a clip of his Irrfan Khan-Chitrangada Singh starrer, asking viewers to choose a title between Dil Dar-ba-Dar and Yeh Saali Zindagi. Interestingly, the director of acclaimed films like Hazaaron Khwaishen Aisi (2003) and Chameli (2003), had started his next film, tentatively titled, Dil Dar-ba-Dar.

Confirming the same, Mishra said "Both these titles also represent equally strong songs in the movie. I decided to release a clip from it online to give an idea of the film’s content and style, and ask my friends for their advice on the apt title."
He attributes the need to go online to “genuine confusion.” So not only has he posted the clip on his profile, but his assistants have also added the link to theirs, thereby expanding its reach even further. Mishra is glad that they are able to reach out to about 20,000 people whom, he and his team-members are sure will participate in helping finalise the title for his movie. “It’s not merely a title. I find the whole interaction interesting because there are a lot of people you don’t normally talk to. So there’s a certain anonymity which ensures that people speak frankly without any bias,” he says.
However, it’s not the numbers that will help him decide between Dil Dar-ba-Dar and Yeh Saali Zindagi. “It all depends on the argument for a particular title. The most convincing reason for choosing Dil Dar-ba-Dar or Yeh Saali Zindagi will be the deciding factor. It’s not about the number of votes,” he asserts.
Mishra informs that he will finalise the title of his romantic thriller with a comic edge by the end of the week. He plans to release the film in early October.
