It is said that any kind of training works best when it is started very young, so it comes as no surprise that Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise will send Suri, their daughter, to full-time Scientology training school after her third birthday. Suri will begin attending school five days a week at the Church of Scientology's New Village Academy in Los Angeles.

At a cost of more than $12,000 per year, Suri will begin classes after her 3rd birthday on April 18. The school was launched by Will Smith, Tom's friend and a fellow actor, last year. It is staffed by trained Scientologists and lists "study technology" as a key curricular focus.

The school is also extremely strict about nutrition, demanding a low-carb, low sodium, and low sugar organic diet.

For those of you who don't know much about Scientology, here's a succinct insight into the religion Tom Cruise swears by.

Scientology is a body of beliefs and related practices created by L. Ron Hubbard in 1952.

Scientology teaches that people are immortal spiritual beings who have forgotten their true nature. It promotes spiritual rehabilitation through a type of counseling referred to as "auditing". Study materials and auditing courses are made available to members in return for specified donations.

A large number of organizations overseeing the application of Scientology have been established. The most notable of these being the Church of Scientology. This faith sponsors social service programs, some of which have been described as Scientology promotional campaigns.

Such programs include a set of moral guidelines expressed in a brochure called The Way to Happiness;Narconon, ananti-drug program; Criminon, a prison rehabilitation program and Study Tech, the education methodology.
