Reese Witherspoon had a surprise birthday party thrown for her at a premiere for her latest film. Although Reese had to work on the day she turned 33, she was presented with a cake and a rendition of 'Happy Birthday' at the Los Angeles premiere of Monsters Vs Aliens on Sunday.
As the actress entered the Los Angeles Gibson Amphitheatre for a screening of the movie, Jeffrey Katzenberg - the head of DreamWorks studio, which made the film - called stars Seth Rogen, Kiefer Sutherland, Rainn Wilson, Paul Rudd, Hugh Laurie, Will Arnett and Amy Poehler to the stage.
Wilson said: "We have some hard facts to run by you, because we know it takes a full bottle of Nyquil for you to fall asleep at night, so there's something very special that we want to say."
The assembled cast, accompanied by the audience, then sang 'Happy Birthday' as a huge cake was wheeled on stage. A surprised Reese said: "Thank you for coming to my birthday party - I mean, the screening of Monsters Vs Aliens!"
The previous night, Reese's boyfriend Jake Gyllenhaal threw a party for the Oscar-winning actress at his home in Los Angeles. Jake's sister Maggie Gyllenhaal, Robert Downey Jr. and his wife Susan were among guests.
