Bollywood actor Hrithik Roshan has said that though wife Sussanne has decided to end their marriage, she will always be the love of his life. Sussanne has however sought privacy, saying their two children are the priority right now.
Hrithik shocked his fans by announcing that Sussanne had decided to walk out of their 13-year-old marriage. After going public with the news, the 39-year-old actor took to his Facebook page around midnight to inform his more than seven million fans that their separation is his tribute to their childhood love as that's what Sussanne wanted.
"This is my greatest tribute to love. Sussanne is and always will be the love of my life for the rest of my life. If her smiles are brighter without me, my love for her must accomplish that. Unconditional," Hrithik wrote on his Facebook page.
"We are two individuals who respect and care for each other and have made our own individual choices. We are parents to two wonderful kids and our responsibility remains to protect and take care of them. Nothing can change that. Would appreciate if we are given our privacy in such a time. Thank you for your warmth and concern for both of us and the family," she had said.
There were reports that the couple's marriage was going through a rough phase as the 35-year-old interior designer had moved out of the Roshan residence and was staying with her parents Sanjay Khan and Zarine but the family had denied such rumours at that time.
Finally, the Krrish 3 star ended months of speculation about the state of his marriage in a statement last night.
"Sussanne has decided to separate from me and end our 17-year relationship. This is a very trying time for the entire family and I request the media and the people to grant us our privacy at this time."
Roshan and Sussanne, who were childhood sweethearts, tied the knot in 2000 after a four-year relationship. They have two sons - Hrehaan, seven and Hridhaan, five.
Sussanne's father Sanjay Khan, however, said it was not the end of the road for his daughter's marriage to Hrithik. "Like any other normal couple they also have some issues. Just because Hrithik is a superstar, doesn't mean he will not have personal issues. They both are intelligent and wonderful people. It's just that they need space. Of course this is not a closure. They respect each other. To resolve issues, may be this is what they thought was good," Khan had said.
Sussanne's sister Farah too echoed her father in her tweet: "Sometimes a couple needs space to work things out without the concern others are most keen to show. Everything in this world is as permanent or as temporary as we see it. Would like to request the media/friends to be sensitive to the fact that there are two innocent children involved and no one can predict the future."
