Ayushmann Khurrana, who is currently juggling multiple film and music projects, feels that he is unable to devote enough time to his family. He talks about managing his personal and professional life, his newborn daughter and his new single.
How has life changed after the birth of your daughter, Varushka [earlier this year]?
Life hasn’t really changed because I am working 24/7. I am leaving for the US for my concerts and events soon. I am blessed that my parents, in-laws and family have been in Chandigarh. So, my kids and my wife are taken care of.
How do you take time out for your family and kids?
I am travelling to the US with Tahira (Kashyap; his wife), and the kids will be with our parents. I usually take her along when I am travelling. I think I am a bad father (smiles) as I hardly get to spend time with my kids. I am still in my twenties, and am working hard. I will probably take it slow after five years.
Does Tahira ever complain about your busy schedule?
Of course, and she has every right to do that because I haven’t been able to give enough time to my family.
Do you plan to shift Tahira and your kids to Mumbai?
I don’t think so. I’m not in Mumbai most of the time as I’m out for shoots. I come here only for meetings, and I also spend a week [every month] in Chandigarh.
Tell us about your new single.
Mitti di khushboo is a Punjabi love song, which is about rains, love and nostalgia. We will be shooting the video soon, and that will happen in Punjab as well as in some international destination because the song is about your loved ones back home. We wanted a Punjabi girl for the video and have roped in Huma Qureshi, as she has the perfect Punjabi looks.
