She was her goofiest best on Karan Johar’s chat show earlier this year. Nargis Fakhri is back in the news for a special song she has shot with Salman Khan for his upcoming film, Kick. Here, she talks about sharing screen space with the Bollywood star, giving the world a glimpse of her “real self” on Karan’s show and more.

How was the experience of working with Salman?
I was nervous, intimidated and self-conscious. I kept wondering whether Salman would be forgiving. I’m a huge thinker and worrier. I would always be scared. But it (working with him) was amazing. He has such great energy and a really nice sense of humour. He would always say something funny. Whenever we had to shoot together, I’d be worried. But he’s so secure in his space that his energy would just rub off.

Did he give you any career advice?
It’s really sweet that Salman thinks I have potential [to make it big]. He did give me some tips. He said I need to be more social, which is true. I haven’t had a chance to meet him for work before. In three years, this was the first time. Plus, he told me to work on my language. It’s funny, but he also asked me to memorise 50 Hindi songs in three months. He thinks I have the looks and the potential to be something… and that feels great.

Post Karan’s show, people discovered a new side to you — a funnier, real side.
I think my appearance on that show was my real debut. People didn’t know my personality. They just thought I’m a pretty face and a foreigner. Honestly, [when] I got here, things started happening to me magically. Since that appearance, I’ve gained a larger fan following. Earlier, I used to think twice before cracking a joke, wondering whether people would understand it.

If you had to pick the hottest actor in Bollywood, who would it be?
Salman is very handsome. His energy is big and lovely… very larger-than-life (sic). I’m a Libran, so I don’t find just one man attractive. I like a variety of men, and I find many of them good-looking. I think John (Abraham) is great, Arjun (Kapoor) is super sexy, Sidharth (Malhotra) has a beautiful baby-like face and Varun (Dhawan) is very cute.
