Justin Bieber has caused an outrage in Argentina after he disrespected their flag during his wild tour through capital Buenos Aires.
When fans tossed two Argentine flags onto the stage, unlike most musicians who hold up the flag in appreciation to their fans, the 19-year-old singer "treated the flags like a dirty rags", Stuff.co.nz reported.
The Baby hitmaker used his shoes and microphone stand to sweep them off the stage. According the laws of the nation, insulting the Argentine flag is a crime punishable by up to four years in prison.
Beliebers (Bieber fans) world over are shocked and are expressing their outrage over twitter.
Some tweets read:
@ProperSwifty: "Just read about Justin Bieber's behavior in Argentina. What a shame. Someone's fame is really going to his head. How stupid."
@drewslighter: "LMAOOOOOOOOOOOOO WHY IS HE SO STUPID"
@MyBTRKidrauhl: "my best friend lives in argentina & I don't like the way justin just swiped off the flag thats very disrespectful"
Meanwhile, the pop icon, who has ironically put up a sad smiley as his Twitter display pic to promote his new album All Bad, has been tweeting apology messages like:
@justinbieber: "...it was a shirt. Im being told by my team it was a shirt but even if it was a flag I would never do anything to disrespect Argentina..."
@justinbieber: "so once again to the people of Argentina. Im sorry if that was taken the wrong way and im sorry for my mistake. I hope u can accept this.."
@justinbieber: "people throw stuff on my stage all show and i get it to the stage hands to get off so no one got hurt. that video i saw a bra and thought..."
And some sarcasm too?
@justinbieber: "so it is all love all around the world. thanks"
