A year ago, at politician Baba Siddiqui’s iftar party, Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan made headlines when they hugged in front of a barrage of cameras. History repeated itself on Sunday (July 6), when the two embraced again at the same event, this time for a little longer, and were even seen chatting and laughing.

Salman reached the party — held at a suburban five star hotel — around half an hour after Shah Rukh. When he spotted Salman, who looked like he was walking towards him, Shah Rukh got up, and the stars hugged each other.

Incidentally, SRK was sitting with Salman’s father, Salim Khan, chief minister Prithviraj Chavan and politician Sushilkumar Shinde, among others.

Later that evening, Siddiqui initiated another meet between both actors by holding their hands and bringing them together.

After some time, a few people invited Salman to join them at the table, but he politely declined. Instead, the actor opted to join his brothers Arbaaz and Sohail, actor Suniel Shetty with his wife Mana, and filmmaker Anees Bazmee, at another table.

Seated between Suniel and Anees, Salman asked to be updated with what they had been working on. With the filmmaker, he discussed the sequel of the 2005 hit, No Entry. Suniel spoke about his daughter Athiya’s debut film, which Salman is co-producing with Subhash Ghai. Salman also asked a few of his other friends to join him for a chat at a nearby studio later.

While leaving the event, Salman ensured that his father could make a quiet exit, before the photographers mobbed him. We met Salman — who was in a rather chatty mood — at Mehboob Studio (Bandra) later the same night, and asked him about his meeting Shah Rukh. He said, “It was great. It was really good [meeting him]. He’s a good guy, I like him… I’ve always liked him.”

The music of Salman's film Kick was recently released and when asked how he picks the songs for the soundtrack, he said, “If I like the tune, I select it.”

Also, he prefers listening to the demo songs sung live to audio recordings. “They (composers) come home. I don’t listen to scratches (demo audio recordings). So, the music director usually sings the song to me… with tabla, harmonium… With Sajid-Wajid, Sajid plays while Wajid sings and with Himesh (Reshammiya), he just sings.”
