Stars and their Diwali parties

The festival of lights sees Bollywood participate with gusto every year. The homes of actors and producers are where some of the biggest Diwali parties in Mumbai take place. From high-stake card games to simple friends-and-family affairs, this is when actors and filmmakers play generous hosts to the rest of Bollywood. We take a look at who’s doing what this year.


Host:
Ekta Kapoor-Tusshar Kapoor
What: Every year, producer Ekta Kapoor and actor-brother Tusshar Kapoor host a grand card party at their residence in Juhu, Mumbai. This year, the party will be combined with the wedding anniversary celebrations of their parents – veteran actor Jeetendra and wife Shobha Kapoor.
Guest list: Rishi and Randhir Kapoor, and director Rakesh Roshan are expected to attend. TV stars such as Sakshi Tanwar and Kanchi Kaul attend every year.
When: October 31

Host: Ritesh Sidhwani
What: Just like last year, producer Ritesh Sidhwani is hosting his annual Diwali party at his house. It has been a good year for his production house, so Ritesh’s party is expected to be lavish.
Guest list: Farhan and Zoya Akhtar, along with their father Javed Akhtar and his wife Shabana Azmi will be present. Close friend Raveena Tandon will attend with husband Anil Thadani, as will Aamir Khan and wife Kiran Rao.
When: November 1

Host: Raveena Tandon-Anil Thadani
What: Every year, Raveena Tandon and distributor-husband Anil Thadani host a card party at their Bandra residence. The card players stick around late into the night.
Guest list: Shilpa Shetty and husband Raj Kundra, Ritesh Sidhwani, Sohail Khan and wife Seema, Chunky and Bhawna Pandey.
When: November 2

Host: Aamir Khan
What: Aamir Khan has a big party planned on the day of Diwali this year at his new residence in Bandra. The teams of both his upcoming films – Dhoom:3 and P. K. will be there.
Guest list: Apart from the two films’ teams, directors Kunal Kohli, Ashutosh Gowariker and writer Prasoon Joshi are expected.
When: November 3

Host: Anil Kapoor
What: An intimate affair has been planned with only family and close friends. Anil also plans to celebrate the success of his TV show, 24, and the success of daughter Sonam’s films.
Guest list: Brothers Boney and Sanjay, along with their families.
When: November 3.
