Armaan Kohli, a participant on reality show Bigg Boss 7, was granted bail by a Mumbai court on Tuesday.
He was arrested on Monday night for allegedly assaulting a fellow contestant, Sofia Hayat, on the show.
The arrest came three days after British singer-actress Sofia Hayat filed a complaint against actor Armaan Kohli for allegedly assaulting her during their stay at a Lonavla-based bungalow while filming the reality show.
Police said on Tuesday, "Armaan will be taken for a medical examination and post that he will be presented in the court today. He is not allowed to meet anyone as of now."
According to the Lonavala police official, Armaan has been booked under Sections 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means), 509 (word, gesture or act intended to outrage the modesty of a woman), 354(a) (sexual harassment), 294 (sing, recite or utter any obscene song or word) and 504 (intentional insult to provoke breach of peace) of the Indian Penal Code.
Although the Santacruz Police had initially booked Kohli for assault, the Lonavla city police added charges of sexual harassment against the actor. Vishnu Pawar, inspector, Lonavla city police said on Monday, "We obtained the CCTV footage of the bungalow and upon scanning it, we could verify Hayat's allegations. Kohli was subsequently arrested on Monday night."
The police on Monday arrested Kohli on charges of sexual harassment.
A week after being evicted from the reality show, last Thursday, Hayat and her lawyer had approached the Santacruz police and lodged a complaint against Kohli.
When contacted, a source from Colors channel said it is yet to be decided whether or not Armaan will return to the show.
