The premium cable network is interested in reviving the comedy The Comeback, created by and starring Lisa Kudrow.

Lisa Kudrow, who played Phoebe Buffay on Friends until 2004, is reportedly being courted by HBO. The network is aiming to bring back the comedy, which it cancelled in 2005 after airing the 13 episodes of the first season.

Created in collaboration with former Sex and the City producer and writer Michael Patrick King, The Comeback depicted the TV industry through the eyes of Valerie Cherish, a former sitcom star who has fallen out of the limelight.

Desperate to return to fame, she agrees to become the star of a reality TV show that follows her every move, both personal and professional. Unfortunately, Valerie's husband Mark and her housekeeper Esperanza are not exactly on board with this invasion into their lives.

In the years following its cancellation, The Comeback has become a cult hit and has been described as ahead of its time, somewhat like Arrested Development, which was cancelled on FOX before being revived by Netflix last year.

It remains to be seen whether Kudrow will accept HBO's proposition. The actress is currently the star of the Showtime comedy Web Therapy. Michael Patrick King is also rather busy with 2 Broke Girls, the comedy he created for CBS.
