Akshay Kumar admits he suffered more anxiety pangs than the finalists of MasterChef India — Jayanandan, Pankaj and Radhicka. “They’re all my favourites, regardless of who the winner is. When they entered the contest, they were rough cuts. Today, when the show concludes, I can confidently say they’re among the finest kitchen experts you’d find in the country. I was more anxious to know who will be win the prize money, a cook book and a restaurant in his or her name,” says Kumar.

Even before curtains close on season one, it is being speculated that the stunt star has been approached for the second season of the show on Star Plus, expected to go on air next year. “If time permits, and I am offered the next season, I would love to do it. Cooking and stunts are the only two genres of shows that I find myself at home with. I owe everything that I have today to cooking and martial arts,” he says. “I was offered several other shows, but I’m never going to be comfortable in those seats.”

akshay kumarThe show ends tonight with Katrina Kaif and Farah Khan visiting as special guests, who along with Kumar were promoting their film Tees Maar Khan that released yesterday. When asked if he had any apprehensions regarding his co-production’s box office performance, he says, “I’m sure it will open well. Everyone in film trade seems positive. We’ve had shows across cities in the world and we’ve got good feedback. So, I’m hoping things will be great here too,” asserts Kumar.

For now, he’s busy organising lunch for his son Aarav and his buddies at home. “They’re all coming home for a meal and I have promised to stir up some goodies for the kiddos. For them, I’m their friend’s papa, not a superstar. I’ll do my best in the kitchen and I’m sure they’ll honestly tell me, ‘Uncle, this was nice and that was okayish.’” smiles the actor.

Shah Rukh Khan will soon be hosting a fun-action-based reality show with 28 contestants called Zor Ka Jhatka. The show is the desi adaptation of the Australian version, Wipeout, currently on air on AXN. “I really wish Shah Rukh well with that one. I’ve watched the original and it’s truly a great format. There’s lot of energy, crazy fun and games. I’m sure Shah Rukh will enjoy hosting it,” says Kumar, adding, “When he came on to my show’s sets, we had a great time chatting over food. I’m sure after this show, when we meet, we’ll have fun talking about stunts too.”
