Shah Rukh Khan won’t appear on good friend Karan Johar’s chat show finale this season, despite much anticipation.
Shah Rukh Khan confessed on the Koffee With Karan that he didn't know how to make friends and keep them, and that he couldn't always tell people that he loved them.
We now have information that the filmmaker will end this season with an episode featuring actors Alia Bhatt and Parineeti Chopra instead.
Although speculations suggest that Karan and SRK’s equation may have soured of late, sources close to the show insist that the plan couldn’t work out due to “timing issues and nothing else”.
“Both Shah Rukh and Karan couldn’t take out time to shoot the episode. There’s no animosity,” says a source. Interestingly, this year, the other Khans — Aamir and Salman — appeared on the show. KJo remained unavailable for comment.
In the past, SRK has appeared in the opening episodes of the show — in season one, with Kajol; in season two, with Kajol and Rani Mukerji. In the third edition, he appeared solo.
Johar had ruled out personal differences in an earlier interview: “You can never take away the fact that Shah Rukh and I share a 20-year-long professional and personal history…it’s sad that I have to explain my immense closeness to him on a daily basis," he had said.
