After a grand wedding which was watched by nearly 2 billion people worldwide, Catherine Middleton, 29 and now Duke of Cambridge William 28, let their hair down at a private reception hosted at Buckingham Palace in London Friday night. Close to 300 of the royal couple’s close friends and family dined and danced well into the the wee.
Middleton wore a strapless white satin gazar evening dress with a circle skirt and diamante embroidered detail around the waist, and a cropped angora bolero. The ensemble was designed by Sarah Burton of Alexander McQueen, who also designed her wedding dress. William opted for a classic dinner jacket with a bow tie.
The reception saw the bride’s sister, Pippa, driving the show. It was hosted by the groom’s father, Prince Charles. The private reception was held in the Palace’s main ballroom, music room, white drawing room and state dinning room. The highlight of the night was Prince Harry’s best man speech.
