On Monday, India lost a lot more than just the second test match against England. The Indian team has become the butt of jokes online, and fans are furious with them for the humiliating defeat at Trent Bridge.

“In more ways than one, the second test reminded me of the traumatic childhood I had caused by following Indian cricket #trentbridge,” wrote Arun Abraham on Twitter.

“India actually played like Champions at #trentbridge. They finished a five day game in 4 days!!” wrote Gaurav Chopra.

As the team stands poised to lose their ranking as the number one test team in the world, Captain Cool MS Dhoni is also on the receiving end of sarcasm.

Another reason for anger against Dhoni is his decision to reinstate English batsman Ian Bell. The controversial decision, which was earlier hailed as upholding the spirit of the game, came under flak after Bell went on to score 159 runs.

Naam toh uska Bell hai, per baja humaari raha hai,” wrote Pujan Doshi.
