It’s a red carpet event more fashionable than the Oscars. The Costume Institute Gala Benefit, held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York on Monday, saw some big Hollywood stars on the red carpet. While some got raved about, others were panned severely by fashion bloggers.
Actress Anne Hathaway, in a princess-like Valentino gown, was voted the best dressed by websites such as Glamour.com and Zimbio.com. Jennifer Lopez’s similar dress, however, was panned by critics. fadedbeauty.com accused her of wearing a “prom gown”, and said, “Clearly age didn’t affect her decision.”
Also voted a disaster was Twilight actress Kristen Stewart’s black Chanel dress. “She doesn’t have the personality to carry off such a dress. Makes her look like a bloodthirsty vampire,” wrote zapit.com. Jai Ho singer M.I.A added glitter to her outfit by painting her fingers golden.
